Morris Hall Pancoast

Waves by the Pier

Painter, illustrator, cartoonist – Pancoast’s extensive art education took him to Paris in 1902 to continue training at the Académie Julian under Jean Paul Laurens. Pancoast and his wife spent summers in their “Studio by the Sea,” Rockport, MA, while his impressive oeuvre was displayed in museums and academies throughout the country. This captivating pastel showcases his impressionist style through freedom of stroke, intensity of color and darkness of mood…are two people working on one dory…are they about to launch it…are they going to make a sea rescue?
